All 13 questions, including the essentials featured on our homepage.
01Does changing the included-work checklist change my price?+
No. The checklist describes the base work shown on your customer quote. Each group covers several tasks; the selected count is a count of groups, not individual chores or rooms. Kitchen and bathroom work is available when those rooms are in your area plan. Standard is an editable starting scope, not a universal package. After changing included work, review your labor allowances or assessed hours in step 02. Add separately priced work with its own hours and costs in step 03. Changing the checklist requires you to confirm the quote again.
02Is the cleaning quote calculator free?+
Quotewise is in beta. All current beta features are free, with no account or payment details required. The full release may introduce paid features or plans. Pricing and any free limits have not been decided; details will be published before paid access is offered.
03How do I work out a house cleaning price?+
In step 01, add rooms and their combined cleaning areas, or choose assessed hours. In step 02, review the linked base person-hours; changing cleaner count changes estimated duration only. Base hours are the sum of each combined room area / 100 x its allowance, rounded up once to 15 minutes; assessed hours are entered in 15-minute increments. Base labor uses hourly labor cost plus any separately entered employer cost. Each extra costs quantity x (person-hours per unit x its all-in hourly override, or the inherited base rate, plus direct cost per unit). Add supplies, travel and allocated overhead once. Divide total entered cost by one minus target margin and round up to a cent. The suggestion cannot fall below the higher of minimum visit price and total cost / (1 - minimum margin). Add extras in step 03 and optional quote details in step 04. Review scope and the protected minimum, then confirm the final before-tax amount. Sales tax is calculated separately using your entered rate and taxable amount. Your own costs decide the result; it is not a local market price.
04What do I enter when two cleaners work together?+
Cleaner count estimates time on site; it does not multiply labor cost. Add their hours together. If two cleaners each work for three hours, set the area allowances to total six base person-hours, or enter six assessed base hours, and choose two cleaners. If the six hours include extras, enter their hours separately in step 03 rather than counting them in the base hours too. The rough time on site is three hours. Do not multiply the labor cost by two again.
05Is labor cost the same as my hourly selling price?+
No. Enter the hourly cost of one cleaner, including your own work. Add employer taxes, insurance and benefits separately per person-hour only if they are not already included. Extras inherit that combined rate unless you enter a service-specific all-in hourly override. Supplies, travel and allocated overhead are entered per visit, then margin is applied to calculate the selling price.
06Can I quote other services or specialist work?+
Yes. Add window cleaning, laundry, carpet cleaning or a named custom service under Extra services. Enter quantity, person-hours per unit in 15-minute increments and other direct cost per unit; leave the hourly cost override blank to use the visit’s base rate, or enter an all-in service-specific labor cost. For subcontractor or equipment-only costs, enter zero person-hours and avoid counting the same labor twice. Individually assessed work uses your own manual labor plan, not ordinary area presets. Record the agreed scope and arrangements before confirming special-condition jobs.
07Can I quote the first clean and regular visits separately?+
Yes. For recurring residential service, choose Standard or Deep for the first visit; ongoing visits use Standard maintenance with an editable scope and separate hours and prices. Move-out is quoted as a one-time service. You can use different ongoing costs and mark extras as first-visit only or every visit. The ongoing discount reduces the base portion (base labor plus per-visit supplies, travel and overhead), not extras; the protected minimum can limit the discount. Repeated rental turnovers need their own individually assessed quotes.
08Does Quotewise know cleaning prices in my city?+
No. For ordinary cleaning we calculate person-hours from cleaning area and editable planning allowances, not city price averages. You can instead enter manually assessed hours, including zero base hours when all work is listed as additional services. Review the actual home and your crew productivity. Your business costs and margin determine the quote. Room counts do not multiply combined areas again. Property condition does not automatically add hours or a surcharge; review allowances or use assessed hours for buildup. Reference allowances, including Deep and Move-out presets, are editable planning assumptions.
09Will my customer see my costs or profit?+
No. Customer text includes optional company and recipient contacts, quote references, service descriptions, quantities, unit prices, final prices, exclusions, validity date and entered tax. It does not include labor cost, profit, minimum price or private notes. Always review the preview before sending.
10Can I download the estimate?+
Yes. Confirm your final price first, then choose Download PDF or Text file in the customer preview. The file includes the agreed services, final prices, exclusions and validity date, but no private costs or notes. If you edit the job, confirm the new prices before downloading again. Files are generated in your browser, not uploaded to a quote server.
11Where is my draft saved?+
In this browser on this device, when browser storage is available. The draft and common costs expire seven days after their last respective edit. Opening the page does not extend that period. Restored prices must be confirmed again. New quote replaces the current quote while keeping common costs; download anything you need first. Clear local data removes both. There is no quote history or cloud backup in this beta.
12Can I add sales tax to the estimate?+
Yes. In step 02, enter the sales tax rate you have verified for the service and location. Apply it to all quoted services or enter a custom taxable amount for each visit. Tax is calculated on the final before-tax price, including a final-price override, or on your custom taxable amount (which cannot exceed that price). It is rounded to the nearest cent once per visit. It appears separately and does not increase estimated profit. Leave the rate blank if not assessed; enter 0 only after confirming no tax is due. The tool does not determine taxability, select a jurisdiction, collect tax or file returns.
13Can I change the suggested price?+
Yes. Enter your final price and review the updated profit. If it falls below your protected minimum, you must acknowledge the risk before confirming. Changing job details makes the old confirmation invalid, so you cannot copy an outdated quote.
